Divine Assurance

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:11-13

Sometimes all you need is to hear some words of encouragement and hope from a friend, or a loved one. The struggles presented to us in life as so real, and we all have our unique challenges.  We may be masters of covering up; presenting an exterior that contradicts our interior. People do not necessarily want to bother others with their challenges. However, sometimes, we take this approach into our relationship with God—we feel we do not need to bother God with our challenges.

I want to encourage you this morning. Imagine God sitting with you and telling you these wonderful words in our text above. Take a pause right now; go back and read the text again.  This time read it to your soul. Replace the “you” in the text with your name.

God is giving you divine assurance. He is revealing his thoughts about your life to you. You may not be certain about your tomorrow, but God definitely is. He does not have a hazy idea about you. It is a clear plan of peace and prosperity of your soul. God has plans to secure and protect. Sometimes fear grips our imagination whenever we think of our tomorrow. We become nervous, lacking the strength to pursue our dreams. Listen to God speaking you: my plan is not to harm you, but to protect you from harm. You have My blessing of protection! Even in the midst of challenges, My presence is with you.

The second part of God’s plan for us is to offer us hope and a future. That means no matter how a situation feels hopeless, I can trust God’s promise to me and face life. No matter how uncertain your tomorrow may seem in your imagination, God promises you a rock-solid future filled with his blessings and presence. I feel like I am speaking to myself right now!

I invite you to remind yourself of this scripture daily before you set out in the morning. It will be food for your soul and healing to your heart.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, grant me the strength to hold onto your promises for my life, trusting you for the future.
