To Serve the Needs of People Through a Church Home Dedicated to the Glory of God

Activities

Aldersgate offers many diverse opportunities to all ages for fellowship and outreach.

Singles Light On Life

This is a group for singles 45 years+ who are looking for fellowship in a fun and active setting. Our activities include dining out, attending movies, and game nights - with food, of course! Details are on our web page.

Friends in Faith

Friends in Faith is a small group fellowship for unmarried persons age 60 and over. We are also a group that likes to "go places and do things"; some of our regular activities are a monthly game night and weekly Sunday lunch after worship service. Our special activities often include movies, concerts, and day trips. Twice a year we offer a restaurant tour called Dinners for Six.

Children's Fellowship

There is one Children's Fellowship for children in Kindergarten through second grade, and one for children in third through fifth grades. They meet monthly for a variety of mission, programming, and fellowship activities.

United Methodist Women

We have three circles at Aldersgate: Faith Circle, which meets the second Thursday of each month at 1:30 p.m., Friendship Circle, which meets the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m., and Hope Circle, which meets the second Wednesday of each month at 9:00 a.m. Each meets September through May, and meetings are generally held at the church.

The circles participate in programs, studies, mission work, and fellowship time. These groups are open to all women of Aldersgate. Members-at-Large is a group of women in the church who choose not to join a circle, but like to work on UMW projects, help with bereavement luncheons, receptions, and various dinners by donating food and/or time.

Making blankets for Project Linus, collecting cold medications for Grace Med, and other community service projects are part of the Aldersgate United Methodist Women's group. Bereavement luncheons are provided by UMW for families who have lost loved ones. The UMW Reading Program offers an excellent opportunity to deepen spirituality and broaden understanding of missions. The Reading Program books, Response - the official magazine of UMW, and New World Outlook -the official mission magazine of the United Methodist Church, are available in the Aldersgate library.

United Methodist Men

Men's fellowship of Aldersgate UMC has varied avenues to meet men in several different ways. Current offerings include Men's Bible Study, a men's coffee group, and Men's Fraternity. UMM is open to and strives to meet the needs of men of all ages.

M & M's - Mature and Methodist

Join this group of older adults that meets monthly for ice cream socials, dinners, guest speakers, games, and occasional field trips.

Friends for Food, Fellowship, and Fun

F5 is made up of groups of eight people who meet monthly for food and fellowship. And of course fun. New groups form every four months.

Mom's Morning Fellowship - A Fun Group for Moms of All Ages

To describe Mom's Fellowship as an uplifting time of Bible study, fellowship, food, and fun (although it is all of those things), does not completely explain what this group is all about. The Mom's are about relationships, growing in their faith, and about service to others. Variety is their theme throughout the year.

Moms of all ages are welcome: moms with babies, toddlers, school age and/or teenagers, empty nest moms, and even "grand moms". Members of Aldersgate, visitors, and friends are all welcome. We meet each fall and winter/spring on Tuesday mornings. Childcare is provided, as well as crafts and games for older children.

Mom's Evening Fellowship

Being a wife and mother can be one tough job! As women of faith, a primary key to raising strong children and developing healthy Christian marriages begins with knowing, building, and strengthening our relationship with the Lord. We study those series that offer user-friendly advice on how to get the most from your personal Bible study time, as well as introduce a refreshing new way to learn, all while forming a deeper relationship with God's Word. Come join us on Wednesday evenings for an uplifting time of study and fellowship.

Swinging Duffers

The Duffers are a group of people who like to play golf, would like to play golf, may not like golf but like people -or- may not like people but just like to be outdoors. In other words, this group is for all ages and genders, and for golfers and non-golfers. The intent is to get out, meet some folks you may not know, enjoy the day, and end the day with more fun and fellowship at a local dining establishment. Interested? Read more.

Library

The library is located in the conference room in the office addition. Drop by and see what you would like to check out! To check out a book, write your name and the book title on one of the sheets on the table opposite the door, then place it in the box provided.

Scouting

We have an active scouting ministry. Aldersgate is the chartering organization for Pack, Troop, and Crew 736. These units are some of the most active in the Quivira Council. Pack 736 meets on Monday night, and welcomes boys grades 1 - 5. Troop 736 meets on Tuesday night, and is open to boys grades 6 - 12. Venturing Crew 736 is for boys or girls grades 6 - 12, and meets on Tuesday night. Questions about our Scout units can be directed to the Chartered Organization Representative, Heather Blankinship.

All Church Picnic

We have a picnic for the entire church once a year during the summer.

Welcome Booth

An information center is located in the Sanctuary lobby. Guests (and members) can receive information about church programs, church newsletters, Upper Room Devotionals, and Care Notes.
