Career Seekers Support Group

The Career Seekers Support Group is currently meeting the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month at noon in the Conference Room, starting in September. You can also contact for resume or interviewing assistance, or to share job postings or other information.
The loss of a job can be very traumatic. There is not only the financial loss of income, there is also the potential for many emotional problems—loss of self-esteem, anger, fear, anxiety, frustration, and depression. This takes a toll not only on the individual, but also on the family.
Why is this important? The unemployment office only provides job notices; it does not provide spiritual or emotional support, assistance with resume writing, or practice interviews. The needs of job seekers may be spiritual in addition to connectional. Most job opportunities are found through networking (75-80% of job openings are not advertised). Aldersgate can be the hub of a network in Wichita.
We are not acting as an employment agency, but have members who have generously offered to build or critique resumes, to help sharpen interview skills, to share resources, and to pray for this ministry. We have classes and materials on discovering your gifts and your calling, finding people who need what you do best, networking, and interviewing. We have developed relationships with the Workforce Center, VA Round Table network, Wichita Circles Jobs and Education Committee, New Covenant United Methodist Church in Delano District, Central Plains Area Agency on Aging, Non-Profit Chamber of Service, Dress for Success, Fresh Hope, and Union Rescue Mission.
If you know of someone looking for a job, feel free to share their contact information with us. We will forward information to them, invite them to our meetings, and also lift them up in prayer during this season in their life.
Our brochure provides additional information. If you have any other questions about this ministry or would like to participate, please contact
