Cross-Training Help Needed

We need volunteers to help with our Cross Training Sunday School classes and Saturday night rotation. If you would be willing to Coach (teach) a station or be a Personal Trainer (go with a specific grade level to their station for the week), please sign up on the Rotation sheets located on the bulletin board outside the Children's Education office. Each rotation lasts for 6 weeks. If you can't commit to 6 weeks, find a friend and split the 6 weeks. If you would like to help on Saturday nights, please contact Pastor Mike.

Computer Lab Needs

We are working on updating our Computer Lab that is used for Cross Training, and are looking for flat screen monitors.  If you are updating your computer at work or home, and have a flat screen monitor that you could donate to us, please let Cynthia Rios know. We have enough computers for the lab, so we are just looking to update the monitors.

Christian Education

Sunday School

Sunday School for children and youth is available at 9:30 and 11:00 a.m., as well as on Saturday night for grades K-5. All children's church school classes use United Methodist curriculum that follows the church seasons. For more information on classes available for children and youth, please click here.

There are many great adult church school classes here at Aldersgate. They range from contemporary to traditional. For more information to help you choose an adult Sunday school class, please click here.

Wednesday Night "Elevate"

Starting January 13, 2010, we will have a Wednesday night program for elementary aged children. Kids start out in a large group format, where the Bible story is introduced though a skit. They then go to small group time, where the activities will cover the Bible story, Bible verse, and main point. The first unit is called "Shipwrecked".

Adult and Youth Study Opportunities

Aldersgate offers numerous study opportunities for adults and youth. For information on adult activities, please click here. For information on youth activities, please click here

Third Grade Bibles

Aldersgate honors all who are entering the third grade by presenting them with a Bible. We hope that this Bible will not only help them in their spiritual life, but that it will also become a good memory of Aldersgate.

Children's Fellowship

Ministering to intermediate elementary kids can be a challenge! They're too old for children's ministry, but too young for the youth group. Let your kids dive into Bible study, fun, and games they'll love. We have a monthly activity for kids in Kindergarten through 5th grade.

Friends of Jesus

Friends of Jesus is for children from Kindergarten through fifth grade to have worthwhile activities during the 11:00 a.m. worship on the Third Sunday of the month. The children learn how to be caregivers and disciples by making caring gifts for others.

Vacation Bible School

Every summer, we try to brighten the days by having a week of Bible Study mixed with fun. In July of 2010 we will be doing High Seas Expedition during the week of the 19th - 23rd. Look for information in the newsletter, in the bulletin, and on this website.

Halloween Tailgate Party

Every year on the weekend before Halloween, people from the congregation decorate their car trunks in the latest fashion of non-threatening Halloween apparel and pass out treats from them. Free hot dogs and hot cider are served to all. This is a great place to bring your kids for safe trick-or-treating.

Christmas Pageant

Christmas is a very special time to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Children present a pageant with lots of singing and dramatic readings. There are always plenty of parts for everyone. Bring the joy of Christmas to your heart by attending this wonderful program.

Endowment Fund

There is an endowment to benefit the Christian education of the youth at Aldersgate United Methodist Church. The Kay L. Whitcomb Christian Education Memorial Fund will distribute money annually to any Aldersgate youth through the middle school grades. The money is available as needed, at the request of any youth or parent, for Christian education events, activities, and/or camps sponsored by the church. The requests may be made to the church office.
