Disaster Response Ministry

When disaster strikes, United Methodists respond with prayers, with money, with time, with labor, and with love. Aldersgate has a disaster response team to respond to local disasters (such as tornadoes, fire, floods, etc.)  in Wichita and Sedgwick County.

If you are interested in this ministry, please complete the Disaster Response Ability survey provided in the links below. Forms are also available at the Welcome booth. As you will note, there are a variety of skills needed after a disaster, so all are needed! Please see Pastor Kim or anyone on the Disaster Response Committee for more information. They receive information from the Annual Conference Coordinators and know of the latest help needed.

For more information on the Haiti emergency and how you can help, please check here, where you will find information on needed health kits and links to information and how to donate. A thank you from the President of the Methodist Church in Haiti can be read here. Aldersgate collected $3753 for the Haiti Earthquake Relief fund.

The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) Philippines is working with its local partners, including Action by Churches Together (ACT) and the National Council of Churches, to provide relief to those affected by Typhoon Ketsana, also called Ondoy, in the Phillippines. For more information see the UMCOR website, or you may donate funds using this link.

For additional information, please visit the Kansas West Conference Disaster Ministry website. For information on the United Methodist response to national and international needs, please visit the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) website.
