MinistriesThere are many opportunities for service at Aldersgate. Many of the fellowship groups are also active in service missions.
Collection BoxesCollection boxes are located near the St. Francis of Assisi window for the monthly collection item, plastic bags, the Klothes Kloset, and the Disaster Relief collection. There are also collection boxes by the church office for Campbell's soup labels and ink cartridges.
Prayer VigilThe Aldersgate Prayer Team has initiated a 24-Hour Prayer Chain, to be held the 3rd Friday and Saturday of the month, from 6:00 p.m. Friday through 6:00 p.m. Saturday. We are asking people to sign up for a 30-60 minute slot at the Welcome Booth on the first Sunday of each month and pray in their own homes. A prayer guide will be provided with suggested prayers, scripture readings, and topics to pray for. This guide will be available at the Welcome Booth, along with bookmarks that also have suggested prayers for our schools and children. We encourage the participation of all ages in this Prayer Vigil!
EndowmentThe Endowment Committee sells memberships in the Aldersgate Endowment Society yearly. Find out more about this important way you can support your church.
CaregiversThis group is led by Pastor Rick and ministers to those in our congregation with special needs, those who are shut-in or in nursing homes. Caregivers also coordinate the prayer chain and offer meals to those returning home from the hospital.
Disaster Response MinistryThere are many needs during an after any disaster. Aldersgate's Disaster Response Ministry coordinates the efforts to help. See more information here.
Health and WellnessThe Health and Wellness Committee performs free blood pressure checks on the first Sunday of each month in the church office.
Mission Minded CraftersThis is a group for everyone at Aldersgate who enjoys crafting and wants to use their gifts to do mission work. Mission Minded Crafters make hats and turbans for cancer patients at Victory in the Valley, lap robes for those who rely on wheelchairs, newborn blankets for Grace Med Health Clinic and Project Linus blankets for children with terminal illnesses. A variety of patterns are available. You do not need to be able to sew to contribute to this group. Other craft ideas are always welcome.
Mission CommitteeOur Missions Committee sponsors monthly mission projects. More information about missions at Aldersgate is available on the Missions page. We want to hear about your mission activities: download and print this form, fill it in, and return it to the office.
Pastor's Emergency FundThe money received from periodic special offerings for this fund is distributed in the form of Dillons certificates to those who come to the church in need.
United Methodist MinistriesUnited Methodist Urban Ministries, Grace Med Health Clinic and United Methodist Mexican-American Ministries are supported throughout the year by special offerings.
EnvironmentThe Environment committee researches ways that the church can be more responsive to our earth. This committee has recommended, for example, that all church functions use paper dinnerware instead of styrofoam. Did you know that Styrofoam stays in landfills over centuries, gives off toxic chemicals if burned or melted, and can be harmful to fish if ingested?
Aldersgate has also adopted a highway, and twice a year members from the church clean up the trash. ![]() |
