Chartered Organization
The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) is one of the largest youth organizations in the United States, with over 2.4 million youth members in its age-related divisions. Since its founding in 1910 as part of the international scouting movement, more than 110 million Americans have been members of the BSA.
In the U.S., over 70% of all Scouting units are chartered to faith-based organizations. The United Methodist Church is second only to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the number of units chartered to faith-based organizations in the U.S. There are three Boy Scout units chartered to Aldersgate UMC: a Cub Scout pack, a Boy Scout troop, and a Venturing crew.
Each Scouting unit is managed by a group of adults approved by the chartered organization who serve as the unit committee. The Chartered Organization Representative (COR) maintains a close relationship with the unit committee chairman. Coordination between the chartering organization and its Scouting program is through the COR. Our units partner with Aldersgate UMC to deliver the promise of Scouting.
Cub Scouts

Boy Scouts
Boy Scouting is the flagship program of the BSA for boys ages 11 – 18. It uses outdoor activities such as camping, aquatics, and hiking to achieve the aims of character, citizenship, and personal fitness training. The Boy Scouts meet at Aldersgate on Tuesday evenings @ 7 p.m.
Venturing is a program for young men and women ages 14 – 21. Its purpose is to provide positive experiences to help youth mature, and to prepare them to become responsible adults. Crew 737 meets at Aldersgate on Tuesday evenings @ 7 p.m.
